My need for portable apps is simple. I'm on different computers all the time, and most of them I do not have admin rights to. So a portable app does me no good unless it's REALLY portable, and doesn't try to write anything or need admin permissions.
Is that just not doable? Or if such exist, how do I know which ones don't require admin? The case in point is I just tried Revo uninstaller. It installed ok, but won't run at all without admin. I know, this is pretty deep stuff, but it's not the only so-called "portable" app I've had this problem with.

Revo Uninstaller is an app so you can uninstall software from the local PC. As a portable version, it lets you do so without needing to install Revo Uninstaller on the local machine. It will not, however, let you uninstall an app from the local machine without admin rights. The reason is that this is not possible by design in Windows. To install or uninstall local software within Program Files, you must have admin rights. There is no way around that. That is by design of Windows for security reasons.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
