The Carbide

I just wanted to warn people about the Carbide.

I bought the 32 gig version, and setup a new pass code. I must of guessed the wrong code more than 10 times, and the device got wiped.

I finally figured out that I needed to set a code longer than 4 digits, and this is why it deleted the pre-installed data.

So after setting the device up again, I get the solid RED (LOCKED) led again. This time I have no clue what caused it. I don't have time for this.

I decided that this item was a little pricy, and I wanted to return VIA their no hassle return system, and that's when I read that you can not return the item if you have it engraved.

This is darn right silly! If you go, and purchase one they do not say anything about not being able to return it if you get it engraved. The purchase form actually encourages you to get it engraved, and stated its free.

If you ask me this is the opposite of free, as it comes at a great cost.

Just an FYI

CustomUSB

The drives are provided by CustomUSB, and according to the support information, they will exchange or repair any drives with issues.

Wiith that said, according to the manual, the red light indicates that there is no User PIN created.
