Installing Flash in U3 version of portable firefox

I've installed portable firefox from the U3 site. I read the instructions regarding plugins. I was able to install Shockwave but not Flash because the Flash installer does not give you the option of specifying where to install it. There was no UI and it installed directly to the hard drive on my regular computer.

Any suggestions about how to install?

Updated Instructions

I've updated the instructions to make it even easier:
https://portableapps.com/support/mozilla_firefox_for_u3#plugins

It can be installed just like a standard extension.

Sorry kid

That link for the extension is right on Macromedia's site. (I just checked it from here and it works fine) If you can't reach that, you'll have to wait til later.

Yea its a local problem.

I just tried to downlaod something else, turns out I'm having trouble downloading in general on my work computer(Win2K) using U3 and PortableFirefox, The Local Firefox works fine, And the Portable Version work fine at home on WinXP Pro.

I tried using the old way to install extensions, but the U3 and PortableFirefox do nothing when I hit 'Open File'.

And when downloading other files, unless there is a program prespecified to open the file type with I can't save it or choose a program to open it with.

This is a real problem, any Suggestions?

Odd

That'll work, though. Download and then FILE - OPEN it. If your local copy of FF is on the fritz, fire up Firefox for U3 or Portable Firefox Smile

Flash

I also got an error message about an error downloading when I clicked on the link. I then downloaded the flash .xpi file to my hard drive and then opened it in Portable Firefox. It asked me if I want to install it. I answered yes, the title appeared in the FireFox extension list and then simply disappeared from the list. I've restarted FireFox and confirmed that it's not installed.

Any suggestions?

It's supposed to disappear

If all else fails, your best bet is to install it into a local copy of Firefox and then copy the DLL over. After you install it locally, you'll have a copy of npswf32.dll in your C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\Plugins directory. Copy that to:
X:\System\Apps\3C9F7B3F-D55C-42cd-8537-B878518B73AF\Exec\firefox\plugins

That's the fallback manual way, but it works.
