Is the installer for opera portable an online installer or an offline installer?
What I mean is, can i use the installer i downloaded before to download the newest version (update) or do i have to download the latest installer?

Generally, if the filename of the installer has _online in it, the installer is an online installer (that usually downloads a specific version).
When it doesn't, the installer contains the version specified on the webpage linking to the installer.
As of 2015-06-10, the installer for Opera Portable contains Opera version 30.0.1835.59 and will install that version (and only that version)
Then how can I update opera portable?
(Without downloading a new installer)
When I click "about opera" in opera settings, it says "an error occurred while checking for updates"
Could that be a bug/glitch?

The updater doesn't work properly in portable mode.
The best way to use our apps is in conjunction with our platform as it will automatically let you know when they are out of date and let you update all your apps with just a click.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
Darn.... I wanted to use opera portable with auto update.....
*sigh* I guess I'll have to use the pa platform...

I downloaded and installed the platform.....
Will the platform auto update itself??
Or do I have to download and install a new version?? (if and when it comes out)

When there is a new version of the platform than what you have installed, the PortableApps.com Updater will popup when you start the platform to notify you and allow you to update the platform (unless you turn off the automatic check for updates)
If won't silently automatically update the platform though (some users would likely complain about unwanted data usage)

To avoid confusion, the "it" I'm talking about in my previous post means the portableapps platform, not opera....
