Application: Syncthing

Description:
Syncthing replaces proprietary sync and cloud services with something open, trustworthy and decentralized. Your data is your data alone and you deserve to choose where it is stored, if it is shared with some third party and how it's transmitted over the Internet. (Source: Homepage)

I 'portablized' it by created a batch file that loaded the profile from the data directory. I can test it later and see if I can just copy my data over and see if it works.

I don't think I'll be using syncthing so this is a small test including nit picks
"Download Synchting Portable 0.13.5 Dev Test 1"
spilling mistuck
some artefacts e.g.
C:\Users\ABC\XYZ\.stfolder
where XYZ is the folder belonging to another App (pretend it is Dropbox for example)
I stopped it scanning around then as it didn't ask me for permission to start doing stuff so you might argue that the fact the file is left behind is my fault not yours.
Ponder: is that a problem with syncthing itself or the GUI that is driving it ? I wonder because syncthing itself looks pretty clean if peer-to-peer is your thing (it is not mine).
In short I'm stuck on the "give me access to all your webs and your files and I promise I'll play nice".
May be perfect for people that trust peer-to-peer communications in general but ill suited to others with a different sync ideal where you might expect two directories on a local system to be synced as a test.

Logical warning required
I still think this type of backup needs a strong and prominantely placed health warning

Hi,
It seems in your configuration the default Sync folder path is in SyncthingPortable\App\DefaultData\Sync folder.
Which means, If I understand how PortableApps works, it will be copied each time the application is opened and closed.
Now, I would suggest setting this folder into Documents of the PortableApps suite (If installed).
Other option is any valid option yet which won't be copied over and over.
By the way, are you aware of:
https://github.com/syncthing/syncthing/issues/2015
https://docs.syncthing.net/users/syncthing.html#cmdoption-home
https://github.com/syncthing/syncthing/issues/416
Thank You.
The default sync path is Data/Sync. That way you have Syncthing and your sync folder with you.

It's first time I'm trying this app (I hope I would be able to sync Thunderbird profile). Anyway, it's running smoothly on my small win 10 laptop, but on my main PC (win 7) I have to run it from PortableApps\SyncthingPortable\App\Syncthing\syncthing.exe (or syncthing64.exe). When I try to run it from PortableApp menu it starts briefly and then it crash.
I see the issue. I didn't escape the config path with "" to prevent a failure from a path with spaces.
Escape home path
Thank you for the update. It fixed the problem. Unfortunately it seems I found another one - when I run it from PA menu it doesn't open the browser, but when I run it from PortableApps\SyncthingPortable\App\Syncthing\syncthing.exe (or syncthing64.exe) it's working (opens the browser itself).
I did this on purpose to let you decide which Browser you want to use, e.g. Firefox Portable. So Syncthing won't open your default non-portable Browser.
Thank you for explanation.

Have you looked at all into SyncTrayzor? There's a disk space and RAM overhead, but it has a more Windows-native client, whereas the current install has a mostly browser-based, which some users will struggle to shut down.
I did some comparison work over on PFW: https://www.portablefreeware.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=91555#p91555
Either way, thanks for working on this. This is definitely something that will benefit a lot of portable users. One of my favorite functions of portable software is how easy it is to synchronize across machines, and this will only make it easier.

Syncthing 1.4 is out.
By the way, any chance to change the default Sync folder location?
It seems hard coded (Probably by Syncthing).
But instead of being in:
PortableApps\SyncthingPortable\Data\Sync
could we have it inDocuments\Sync
whereDocuments\
is the Documents folder of the PortbaleApps installation?I guess it requires the installer to be aware if it is installed as part of the PAc suite or standalone.

I'd like to report in case anyone interested in making legacy PortableApps.
The latest one to support Windows 7 32-bit is v1.23.7
Confirmed, I've tested it myself.

si alguien sabe del tema, viendo el cmd mientras utilizaba la app comenzó a buscar archivos en la carpeta de usuario y los cookies de Chrome que me pareció muy extraño luego archivos de onedrive. que explicación tiene esto?
