Latest Teamviewer update

Portable Teamviewer's latest update requires exiting the Teamviewer prior to installing the update, This is not a problem if you are doing a local update. An update on a remote computer is a different situation.

You can't update while Teamviewer is running but you need it for remote access. Google's Chrome browser has an app-for-that.

Google Chrome has an Android app and application, (a browser app) available through Google Play called Chrome Remote Desktop, CRD. It requires a Google account and the Chrome browser is setup to run as a background application. See the Advanced Settings to set the Chrome option.

.....But,....Chome for desktops must be natively installed on both the remote and local computers. The Android app, which is an installed app, can access & run a remote computer that has native installed Chrome & the Remote Desktop App[lication]. Note, Chrome's tab oriented multi-tasking is a bit RAM porky, fat that is, not FAT or cool.

Using CRD you can exit Teamviewer to run the update. Chrome Remote Desktop doesn't have Teamviewer's many options and features but it is sufficient for running updates. CRD is in continuous development and can be expected to provide more over time.

Added notes:

1) Browsing Security: Add uMatrix to Chrome and Firefox, read the freaking manual, RTFM

2) Remote Printing is available from Android phones, tablets, and computers if Chrome is natively installed. This is for older printers that are not Google Print compatible and network ready. The older printers must be attached to a computer running Chrome.

3) There is a Teamviewer phone app to do remote control of a computer but not the reverse yet.

4) Terminology: Remote computer = a computer at your office while you are at home for example. I mention this because some remote control software documentation calls the computer where you are working the remote computer. They must have their antennas crossed.

Good luck, you may need it.
