PortableApps menu won't close, usb drive won't "remove safely"

Hi, I'm a brand-new user of this suite, and having a small glitch.

>

I'm using the Standard Suite on a FireLite portable 80-gig USB2 hard-drive. Using Windows XP ServicePack 2 on both computers I have tried this on.

After launching the menu the first time, the icon appears in the systray as expected.
I can access all apps, even added a few of my own with no problem.

But, the "X" close button does not dismiss the menu, and the icon stays in the system tray.
I can't "remove hardware safely" (I guess because the menu is still active in the tray) unless I re-boot the pc.

Thanks in advance for any advice you can give me.

Try closing the

menu with the Task manager (press Alt+Ctrl+Delete then select task manager then kill the process)

whee -- fast answer!

That works. Thank you so much.

Now, to add a tiny bit of just-discovered info --
I think the close problem is due to me using 120 dpi on the first two pc's I tried.

I just used it on a co-worker's station with normal setting, and the Close button works properly.

I had already installed the updated menu that was patched for the 120-dpi setting, but maybe the "hot spot" is not located correctly?

Maybe this will be useful info for some professional trouble-shooter who knows what to look for ???

Thank you for helping me out.
Great forum!

Are you using

ObjectDock or something else like that?

Nope, just vanilla XP

Our office pc's have pretty restrictive Group Policy settings.

So the 120-dpi setting was the only thing I could see different between the pc's I've tried PAS on.

a mystery, to be sure . . . . .

not using skins, etc --- PIBCAK

Problem Is Between Chair And Keyboard.

Embarrassing, but public confession in case it helps some other innocent newbie.

I deleted and re-installed, and all is working fine.

I am speculating that when I first loaded the updated Menu, I hit the Enter key and got the Default NO to over-write existing file. Because my menu at 120-dpi looked much different than at 96-dpi.

I'm so sorry to have wasted your time.
