Just bought a Lexar 4 GB Lightning. Got lots of questions :D

Hey everyone.

I have been using portable apps on an old sandisk cruzer (512 MB), but now that i bought a 4 GB Lexar drive, i have lots of questions.

1. Should i keep the Ceedo software that came with it and run both PortableApps and Ceedo simultaneously? it seems to me that Ceedo has more programs, but i don't know if they are functional on PortableApps as well...

2. Also, I was wondering if there is any equivalent to Argo Application Installer, for PortableApps? i have not used it but it seems to be incredibly useful (it installs ordinary programs onto your flash drive).

I'm sorry if these are n00b questions, but I am not as knowledgeable as most of the members here !

Well...

I am having the same problem as my 1gig has to be "cleaned" on a weekly basis so I only have the things I need in order to have enough space for my PortableApps.

  1. I think you can let Ceedo and the PortableAppsMenu (PAM) coexist. You just cant run Ceedo Apps from your PAM and vice versa.
  2. No. PortableApps are just versions of the unaltered original Apps, repackaged with a Launcher to ensure portability. And they dont have Firefox on their list... Wink

Thank you!

Thank you Simeon, and John T. Haller.

I am going to let Ceedo and PortableApps coexist for now... One of the reasons I was asking is because OpenOffice wasn't working for me, but I realized that it was a problem on my end, not the app itself.

Thanks again to both of you!

Argo

It's also worth noting that Argo only works with some software. No apps that use msi installers for instance. And nothing that does heavy OS integration. So, don't expect to use Microsoft Office.
