Just downloaded Database Browser Portable, intending to replace DbVisualizer. Tried to connect to an Oracle database, was told that the Oracle Client was not properly installed. Went to the publisher's site (https://www.etl-tools.com) and eventually found that the tool requires that a client must be installed, for the database system you want to use. Database Browser uses the client's drivers to connect to the database.
Please, inform the potential downloader that Database Browser Portable will not work unless the appropriate database client is also installed. Database Browser Portable, all by itself, cannot be used for anything.
If I'm wrong, please show me where Database Browser Portable keeps its database drivers, and how to get it to recognize where they are.

Is there a page on the publisher's site that details which engines are built in and which require local client? I'd assume just mySQL and SQLite are built in since it's only a 10MB download compared to DbVisualizer's 164MB (without Java).

Can't find the page I was looking at yesterday, but I did find this. Go to this forum page, look at the fifth post (from "Admin"):

This posting is eleven years old, but I see no sign anywhere that they have changed anything. I also looked into the installed application, and I see only DLLs for SQLite, as "Admin" stated.
ETL Tools advertises Database Browser as able to connect to ANY database. What they do NOT say is, "only if a client for that database is already installed on your system".
From that post, we know that at least MySQL and SQLite require no drive. I'd wager PostgreSQL doesn't either. We know from that post that SQL Server and Oracle require it, which makes sense.
