What External Devices???

fr_zachary - June 6, 2007 - 12:09pm

When I try and load Gaim Portable, it gives me a message saying "Error loading gtkgaim.dll. Error: (31) A device attached to the system is not functioning."
Any explanation? I am running on usually win98 or winxp or 2000 from a USB flash drive.

What External Devices

I am having the same problem only I am running GAIM Portable on Windows XP. When I run GAIM from Laptop 1 GAIM will load without error but when I rui GAIM from laptop 2
it fails with the same error

What OS do you have??

There are several Posts here with errors and it seems to me tat these errors are only on Win98 machines.
Can anyone confirm this???

OS

Both laptops are running Windows XP.

Before you ask here

Note that most free software projects are under continuous development (including Pidgin) and often still very buggy (as a prominent example, Pidgin) so before coming here to ask for support (we only portabilize existing software) I would first:

1) Search the web for an existing report.
2) Check if the problem also exists in the original (non-portabilized) version.
3) Search the Portable Apps forums and support.

Card Reader

Do you have an SD card reader or sth similar that doesn't have a card in it? That is what does it on my HP box. Disable the unused wones with device manager
