Update

As a few of you may know I had my exams recently and I figured that I probably owed you all an update about what I am working on as I haven't been around much. Firstly I would like to apologise for Lapwing, and then say that I have officially cancelled it, permanently. I put an awful lot of effort into it at the end of last year, and in the rewrite I promised a couple of months ago, but the thing is I wasn't good enough, I just don't have the programming knowledge or skill, I can get very close, i.e. hooking into the program and writing most of it's registry entries to file, but never any further. And then an even worse thing happened, I had the opportunity to help Redllar in his JauntePE project last year and I squandered it, so at this point I would like to apologise to him publicly for being totally useless and I only wish that I could have helped to take the project further as I think it is probably the most important app in the portability space, full stop. However I did notice a post in the forum saying that he was restarting development and looking at open sourcing, so I only hope that someone helps him out so that project becomes as important as it could be.

Another of my projects is Toucan, which to be honest I haven't worked on much recently. However I am rectifying that as I type with a new version that will support many of the features that have been requested as well as having an inbuilt update mechanism and a new visual style, I only hope that John can set me up here fully so that there can be a main 1.0 release.

I guess that anyone reading this far will wonder why I posted this, and the reason is this, I need to put this all behind me, and as part of that I would like to announce a new project, which I call NuUI. I'll be releasing more details on that, as well as Toucan, shortly, although I have dropped a hint in the forum as to what it's going to be, if you can find it.

Steve

P.S. Sorry if I disappointed anybody, the
thing is I just wasn't as good as I thought I was, and I apologise for that.

Toucan

Hey Steve. Sorry to hear about Lapwing. No one is gonna hold anything against you. And you tried. These things have a habit of getting away from us. Heck, I'm way behind on getting the 1.1 Alpha of PAM released even though I have the new theming engine and a bunch of other features done (though I'm taking 1/2 of today to work on it) and I've got a couple more people helping with the coding now, which is great... and helps a lot in making progress.

I'll get you setup with Toucan this week.

Yeh, we know Blum

(though I'm taking 1/2 of today to work on it)
Oh good. If possible, can you use Subversion and upload everything, so we can see stuff as it happens?

And you never asked me. Sad Blum

Ouch. Too bad about Lapwing, but I had I feeling it was going to happen Wink
Would you be willing to upload the source to Subversion? (Libertà Project or PortableApps Project) I'm starting to attempt it now, using WinAPIOverride32 as a basis, but if I could get my hands on your code, I'd have a massive head start Wink

I knew about the updater, but what's with the new visual style? Send me a screenshot some time Blum

Looking forward to it. Can't wait to see what it is. Smile
