Error: G:\Access Denied Headache

I keep receiving an error dialog box that states, "G:\Access Denied" when I click on "Open with Pendrive Program" in the WINXP Action to take box, after I plug in my Memorex USB Flashdrive.
I've never received this message in more than a year -until I recently intalled a program directly into the portable apps directory on the flash.
Usually I first install a program on my local harddrive, then transfer the .exe into a portable apps directory I've created for it.
Portable apps runs fine if I doubleclick the portableapps.exe in the root directory. I only get the access denied message when I click on the windows action box at start-up.
How can I undo that messed up my portableapps menu display starting from the plugin/Action to Take Box?

Any suggestions are warmly appreciated
Thanks in Advance -Lindsey

my guess

check your autorun.inf file on the root of your drive. that's what tells windows what to try and run in the "windows action box". It's prolly trying to launch a program that you don't have anymore. rename the file autorun.bak and pull the drive and reinsert and see if you get the same thing.

if that doesn't work you might have windows trying to play a file extension it has mapped to a program it thinks will open it.

Access Denied Headache

Thanks Paulm,
Your suggestion put my thinking analysis on the right track. This made me remember that I had copied all of mypendrive files flash to a CD. I then compared the Auto.inf and Auto. ini files to each other. They were identical, but I copied them onto my flash anyway. No success - the access denied error still remained. I tried the flash on various computers and narrowed it down to what you implied: Problems in the autorun files.
I realized that something was amiss in the portableappsmenu.exe configuration, so...
I simply reinstalled both Startportableapps.exe and MyPendriveGadget.exe from scratch (original downloads) and everything works fine.

Thanks for your prompt response. I'll pass the favor on.
