What was up with the site yesterday?

Just yesterday around 9:30 this happened.

Then just now I got this alert...

http://img386.imageshack.us/my.php?image=pageloaderror1223937167vc0.png.

I'm 100% sure it's not my browser because I checked on different browsers and had about the same results.

I refreshed after a couple minutes and the site was back to normal.
Anybody know what's up?

P.S. The site's homepage also looks horrible on IE 8 beta 2.

Try

Try clicking the button just right of where you type your address, it has a icon of a "ripped" paper I think...

Dialup or hi speed?

I'm on dial up and the network timeout issue is a common problem for me. It occurs whenever my a/v, spyware detection or M$ updates, are updating and I try to surf the web. I have to let the updates finish, before surfing. The other, the malformed page, looks like a blockage by NoScript, the FF extension. I have NoScript and pages display that way, until I unblock or allow the script for that page. These answers may not apply to your circumstances, but these are what I've found.

happens to me too

sometimes.
Mostly its ok after I wait a couple minutes.
Sometimes the page layout is wrecked, but it works again after I clear my FF cache.

CSS / Page Updated

The network timeouts will occur if multiple pages are uploaded at the same time.

The other issue means your browser didn't load the CSS file for some reason. Reloading will usually fix it.

We don't test or support IE8. We use multiple CSS hacks just to make the site work with IE7 and under. These will be updated once IE8 comes out. IE8 Beta 2 is only for developer/testers and absolutely shouldn't be used as your everyday browser.

/rant: If IE could consistently render sites across versions like all other browsers instead of adding its buggy, craptastic IE-specific HTML/CSS, this wouldn't be an issue.

yeah, but...

I refreshed for 3 minutes and it was still like that.

I also restarted my browser (I've set it to delete cache on exit) and still the same thing.

This morning, I've received an email message from a US based site telling that they were down, too:

"...The site is basically down or very slow for now and as a matter of fact there was a wider problem this morning with our whole hosting co. which baffles a bit the tech support people there..."
