@ polish installer:
Yes. The new Toucan is nice, but the polish installer file has still bugs!
Mainly the polish letters are missing! As I wrote to you please use exact the
polish installer file (PortableApps.comInstallerLANG_POLISH.nsh) hosted here:
https://portableapps.com/node/4852
Thanks
M.T
PS: It would be time to update also this page:
https://portableapps.com/development/translations
right, sorry missed that, I shall fix it for pre-release 2, thanks.
Toucan 2.0.2 Pre-Release 3 has still this polish install bug!
Please update the correct polish installer file with polish letters!
Thanks!
He wasn't familiar with the way NSIS handles Polish encoding (non-Unicode), but we chatted on IRC today and it should be fixed in the next release.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
The Pre-Release 4 is out but the polish installer file has still bugs!!!
Please, don't forget to update this file as i said!
M.T
would but I don't have the software to do it, John will sort it in time for the final release, don't worry.
hate to bump, but seriously there have been quite a lot a changes in this release and I would really appreciate some feedback
Just to add that if you posted a bug in the Toucan forum hen it should be fixed in this version, please check.
When starting the application the window covered the entire screen but it was not actually maximized and there was no way to scale it down.
self.path = path if self.path == None else self.path
It opens fine for me. The window is maximized, but it's a normal maximize. Windows XP SP3.
you have a previous version installed and what OS are you on?
TIA
Windows XP Service Pack 3
NOTE: They (The IT guys) turned a network folder into the desktop that may have something to do with it. I wouldn't know.
self.path = path if self.path == None else self.path
is your screen resolution? I think this could be the issue!
All working fine and dandy for me. Thanks again for this Steve : )

Observations on backup.
I was one that reported some weeks ago that while using exclusions using the root of a drive seemed to back up everything no matter what. I now know that you can add sub-folders from the left side to the right and that solved my problems. But I thought I would test it anyway because it something that should work anyway.
This is what I found while using exclusion/inclusions using the root of a drive:
It now does seem to backup the files correctly according to the exclusions/inclusions, but the backup file also includes all folders (even all sub-folders) of the drive, but the ones that are excluded don't have any files in them. So the correct files got backed up, but also contains empty folders of the rest of the drive. I would expect that the backup file would only contain the file/folders that I want. I don't back up using this method anymore but it's just something it should be able to do. Seems good otherwise, I'll keep testing.
Hello NCL
I have a question for you. I ask since you seem to be familar with TUCAN. You all so mention you are not backing up the same way as before.
I want to try useing Tucan to back up my "archive" Hard drive to a USB Flash drive. To be clear I want to make regular back ups of Drive "D" to my USB Flash Drive usually Drive "G".
I want the two to be identical and not loose any files. I will not be telling TUCAN to exclude or include any thing since I want the entire archive backed up. Nor am I interested in Encrypting the files due to the fact that I am useing an "Iron Key".
What option should I try out. I normally on a monthly bases format my USB and just copy Drive "D" to it.

If you want to backup everything from one drive to another with nothing left out then you simply would select the drive you want from the left side and add it to the right side. Select "update" as your type. Put in your backup location. Don't forget to add a job name to the "job name". Hit "+" and type in name then save. Then do the other stuff mentioned above and when you have it all set up save the job name again. So the first time it's run it will do a complete backup then the following times it will update with the files that have changed. Both drives will then have the identical files when complete. Hope that helps.
right, I shall get this fixed for a second pre-release, and hopefully add some speed improvements when you dont have any rules too.
Thanks
to pre-release 2, have fun all
I can't get Toucan 2.02 R2 to do a backup.
Here's the log:
Nothing gets backed up.

Hi,
I tried to make a incremental backup with Toucan 2.0.2.Pre-release3
Given
X:\path0\path01\....
X:\path0\path02\....
X:\path0\path03\....
X:\path1\...
First I selected X:\path0 and wanted then to exclude the bigger X:\path0\path02\....
but on the right side no change appeared and starting the job the complete X:\path0 was archived.
So I tried another job adding the two wanted directories
X:\path0\path01\....
+ X:\path0\path03\....
on the right side all seems to be ok, now Toucan started his job one directory after the other,
but now the second job failed (file existing) cause of the first job was done within less than a minute.
Both archives had the same date-timestamp.
What have I to do to exclude some sub-directories from a bigger one?
"-" or right-mouse-click-exclude on the right side seams not to work.
Thanks
you right click to exclude stuff you need to make sure that you have a set rules rules selected in the drop down box so it knows where to add them.
I just gave it a quick try: my sync parameters from version 1.x have successfully been imported, however it looks like my "secure" parameters are lost. I can see the two entries in the "Job name" menu but when I select them nothing happen (i.e. I can't see the files that are going to be crypted / decrypted). If I click on Preview, nothing happen either.
Also would it be possible to have an option for smaller tab icons? I'm on a 800x600 resolution and the icons look *huge*. Also, as a result, two of them are off screen and I need to scroll to see them. If their size was 32x32 pixels or less, everything would fit without scrolling.
Other than that, great app!
OK I shall look into the missing jobs.
As for the icons, they wont land in this release, but I shall try and add them into the release after.
Thanks for the report
to pre-release 4, hopefully this one fixes a load of bugs, see the original post for more info
Will check out tonight

I'm getting the following error message when Toucan is launched from the command line: "Can't load image from file 'addvar.png': does not exist".
Toucan is being launched from a .bat file which in turn being launched by PStart upon start-up.
I'm running Vista with SP1.
Thanks,

v1.2.2.0 doesn't have this problem. So I still think that this is a bug.
