"Add New Toolbar" Function Fails [Solved]

Even though, It's not a crucial issue for me, I'm really puzzled about the "Add New Toolbar" customization option failing to actually install one.

It only works half way. I can see a new bar being added initially, but after pressing the "Done" button, it just disappears.

Doing a search, I've found this post here: https://portableapps.com/node/762 , suggesting that the problem is usually caused by extensions. So, first, I played with my add-ons by disabling them all, eventually. That didn't solve the problem.

Then, I made a completely new installation to have an "out of box" copy, just to find out that it, too, failed to install a new toolbar.

Any ideas, what this might be about?

My system: FF-Portable, v.3.0.3, installed locally under Win XP Home SP2.

Activate the tool bar.

To do this all you have to do is right click on the menu bar and select the inactive toolbar. Its standard with Most web browsers i have used.

Not Quite

It didn't worked that way, because, there weren't any new toolbars on the list to activate.

But, playing again with this feature, I've found the solution this time. I tried that before, however, wasn't precise enough with placing an item.

The trick is, after creating a new bar, it is necessary to put in it some item from the 'Customize Toolbar' panel, before clicking the 'Done' button. In other words, it is not possible to install an empty toolbar.

So, once having new toolbars actually installed, they do appear on the menu list, accessible by right-clicking or going to View > Toolbars. From there they can be checked/unchecked.

Well then, problem solved. And by the way, it worked with my profile customized copy of FFP, too.

Thanks for the input.

Checking / Unchecking

Regarding the function of showing or hiding particular toolbars, I found later that despite the custom added new toolbars being unchecked, they reappear automatically every time FF is restarted.

I wonder if this is a bug, or it's by design.
