Opening Microsoft Word 2007 Files

I can't open new Microsoft Word 2007 file format using OpenOffice 2.2.1 Portable? Is there a file import/export converter for OpenOffice Portable?

Thanks.

Don't Use It

Use of Office 2007 file formats is not recommended by anyone. It's not compatible with anything except Office 2007.

Beware 30-day Trial of MS Word 2007?

Some new computers come with a "free" 30-day trial of MS Word 2007. I hear that it only saves in the new MS file format.

Unsuspecting users don't know this is even an issue. They find out too late that few others can read their files. And then they find out the trial version won't allow them to save-as in doc, rtf or text, and won't copy/paste, so they're isolated.

They're stuck with the M$ 2007 file formats for whatever they've worked on and are locked out after that "free" expensive trial. They can pay for the real version or pretend they had a massive drive failure and lost a month's work.

?

Did you even read the webpage you linked to or the original request?

The original request above is for a converter/plugin in OO to import the new MS Office documents (.docx, etc). You posted a link to a plugin for MS Office that will let it read/write OO documents. Two TOTALLY different things.

Hi gui230379, the PortableApps.com community only makes portable versions of applications, if that was what you were asking, unfortunately, Microsoft Office Word is payed closed source software, and doing a portable version of it would be illegal. This site doesn't "portabilize" closed source and/or payed applications, as it is possible to see in the Unnoficial PortableApps.com FAQ, section "Can you make [name] portable?".

My advice is you to experiment OpenOffice.org Portable, from this same site, that, in theory, should work with Microsoft Office Word documents.

I'd like to add a request for you, the next time you want to request an app, to do a search for it, and, in case you don't find anything, to do your request under the Request Apps forum.

I want to add too that this forum is mainly English, so, few people will understand Portuguese, so, in preference, it would be better for you to write in English, so more people could understand you.

I hope I have helped and welcome to PortableApps.com!

ODF converter

You need the odf converter plugin, it's here

With this one you can open and save files using docx, xlsx and pptx... I don't use it to save (I hate that format) but I use it to open and edit...

and the address of the memory makes your floppy disk abort,
then the socket packet pocket has an error to report Biggrin
