Well if you use Firefox portable you could use the DownloadThemAll Extension - https://portableapps.com/apps/internet/downthemall_extension
(My Personal Recommendation)
Another official download manager portable app is WinWGet Portable which you can get here - https://portableapps.com/apps/internet/winwget_portable
There are others but thee are two tried and tested solutions from PortableApps.com
Hope this helps

Just a note to thank you for the link.
I run IE rather that Firefox, so I am downloading winwget
Perhaps you can answer this question.
I intend to use the download manager to download openoffice (portable).
I will probably do this piecemeal via a number of computers.
Once downloaded to a flashdrive, I would like to install to a CD. I was thinking of using CD-R media, because of its stability.
Would this media, CD-R, work well for the office applications.
If not, could you suggest a more suitable CD media.
Thanks
Best wishes

PS. Just downloaded winwget to my hardrive.
I assume that if I click on the file that it will give me the option to install on a flashdrive. Or should I move it to the flashdrive first?
Is it best to install winwget into a folder on the flashdrive. I will be downloading freeoffice later into a different folder?
Thanks
I'd suggest posting in the OpenOffice forum.
Personally I run OO Portable from a portable hard drive. Is there any particular reason for your preference for a CD? As said it's beyond my knowledge as to how as to run from a cd as I've never used a Live CD. Also you'll probably have to use a CD-RW though that's just guessing.
Sorry I realize this wasn't very helpful but good luck in finding your answer

Thanks for the response.
In terms of saving data, I think you are right about the CD-RW (or I could save to a pc drive).
Any thought on my PS (above)
Best wishes

Yes it supports resuming your download. Official release files are hosted on Sourceforge and I'm pretty positive they support resuming your download.
However, though I understand the cross-posting to ensure your question is attended to sooner it is frowned upon here. Don't think this is me coming down on you, I did the same thing myself before I knew. But the mods are likely to delete your other posts asking the same question. Don't think this is them being hard on you. We recently had a spate of spammers hitting the forums so the mods are a little less patient then usual. I realize your not spamming but the mods have to draw the line and they have at cross posting.
Good luck with OpenOffice and see you round
