Hello, I am using Firefox Portable on my USB-key for quite some time now, it's great. I have a TrueCrypt volume on that USB-key as well, and I was thinking of moving the FirefoxPortable folder into that volume for added security.
- Can I just move the folder into the volume, or should I reinstall to the volume?
- Has anyone had any troubles with Firefox Portable running off a mounted TrueCrypt volume?
- Moe
Just move.
I think there's no difference of running it from a normal drive or truecrypt mounted drive.
Make a backup first, just in case...
FYI :
Many people report performance-improvements, especially for write-operations,
when truecrypting a flash-drive . This is likely because the TC-driver turns
random writes into sequential writes ..
Yeah you're right.
Well, it worked. Not sure why I hesitated. Firefox Portable + TrueCrypt = peace of mind.
(Yes, I know about Tor, but my online activities don't justify its huge latency).

Glad to hear that it worked
I prefer not to use Tor too, cause it uses proxy, and proxy make the pages opening slow as hell.
You're confusing confidentiality and anonymity. TrueCrypt is for confidentiality, making sure that your data is only seen by yourself. Tor is for anonymity, it "hides" your IP address from your web communications (as seen by the web server you're talking to, and all routers between the first Tor node and the web server). In no way does Tor prevent anyone from reading your USB stick, and neither does TrueCrypt prevent any web server from recording your IP address.
