Account & Mail gone from T-Bird Portable

2009-02-15

My issue sounds similar to another recent post, with a slight difference.

My whole account disappeared (including email, of course) but my Address Book and Tools - - > Options settings remained as I had set them.

I installed 7-Zip_Portable_4.62.paf.exe as Thunderbird Portable itself recommended, and I was able to extract the msf files. However, when I go to open them, Thunderbird itself opens, but not my files.

I am learning as I go along, and would greatly appreciate any suggestions that would help me to recover my missing email (most of which I didn't even get a chance to look at)!!

NOTE: The prefs.js file has not been renamed, as was indicated as a solution on another post.

Same problem (i.e. DISASTER!) I use for WORK!!

Why is there no answer to this post since February? No, Prefs.js isn't changed, etc. The only thing that happened was an unapproved "update" to an extension: MR TOOLKIT (at least that's what the little notice said while it was sitting in front of the "Account Set-up Wizard!")
Tell me how to fix this please?
I really don't have time to play "Geek", this A.M.
I'm at work -- this IS my work email, since the Co. I work for started having amateurs in to play I.T. and took away MS OFFICE OUTLOOK (my then brain) and set me back to Outlook Express - I lost everything!!
Now, it looks like y'all are going to make me do it again?
Help!? Please?

Click on the Mail Account above "Inbox", then "view settings for

this account", then "server settings", on the bottom of the box, look at the directory, then "click" to that directory with Windows Explorer and see if you "inbox" and other folders you had mail in have any size to the files.

Also, make sure if it is a POP account that you check "leave messages on the server" so you can download them again if needed.
