First, a dongle means a hardware protection of the App. So a portable version wich requires the dongle is less bad than a 'portable' version that disables donglecheck.
A dongle is the hardware equivalent of a registration number
Which means that the app is a commercial app, and is intended by the developer to work only on the computer with the dongle.
Modifying the app so that it does not need the dongle will almost certainly violate the license agreement for the app.

Portable apps do not work using the SD/HDHC card slot
I downloaded the portable apps suite for use in my ASUS Eee PC 4G WIN XP. All the apps appear to work well if I use A USB adapter(dongle?).
If the SDHC card is out of the dongle and inserted in the SD card slot of the Eee PC the machine reports a corrupted set of files. It would be good to use the apps in in the SD card slot of the machine at home so that the dongle is not jarred by any object or person. Is it possible to run these apps from SD card slot?
I hope it's not too late to answer this. I have a 4GB SSD XP Eee. I put my Apps on a 4GB SDHC card (although the HC part was a mistake - I wasn't paying attention when I bought it!) as I carry it everywhere and I was nervous about jostling a USB stick too much. They work fine. I even have the platform in my startup menu, so Portable Apps starts when my computer does. The only problem I have with the Portable Apps is that the menu is too tall for my 800x480 screen. (I'm having a problem keeping it at 800x600, which allows me to see the whole menu.) I'm still checking the forums, but in the meantime, any suggestions?
The screen resolution on what they now call netbooks is often too low for many programs to run. I first discovered this when I had an older fujitsu with a 1024 x 512 screen and this was why I never bought the asus like yours. I ended up with an HP mini note with a 1280 x 768 screen - much better.
Most people would suggest that you upgrade your computer to one with a higher resolution screen.
However, there is a solution. Do a google search for a program called "ResizeEnable" - it is very small about 42Kb.
It will allow you to resize windows that normally can not be resized. It does not work on everything but it is your only option.

Allow me to translate your question into what I think you are saying. If I am incorrect you can correct me and that will clarify your question.
"Can I take a program which requires a dongle and make a portable version that does not need the dongle?"

Things have got to get better, they can't get worse, or can they?

Hi Tim
and thanx for the welcome.
To answer your question yes that is what I am trying to say.
