Hi all,
I just want to know if anyone know of any portable utilities/program that can be used to launch/run program? Kinda like when you are clicking Start-Run.
I know I can achieve this by merely creating a shortcut and place that on my taskbar, but of course, having to do so for each command will clutter up my taskbar. Googling at the moment but can't find any.
Any suggestions will be very much appreciated. Thanks.

Command Prompt Portable can be found here in the Utilities category.
Thanks Alan,
I already am using Command Prompt Portable but am looking for one where I do not have to go to the command prompt. It saved me one step ...
I like http://app.etizer.org/ for a launcher
Launchy is a fun an interesting launcher. It loads at startup, and you do a keyboard command, I think it's CTRL+Space to bring it up, and you just start typing. It's neat, it's got some cool features, but I'm not sure if it's portable. It is however both free and open source, so the possibility for it to be made into a portable app is certainly there if someone wanted to pick it up as a project.
While I do not think Launchy and/or a Dock-type application should be included with the base PortableApps.com platform, maybe if a future version had the option, during install, to add Launchy functionality and/or the option to morph the menu into a dock or something, it could be cool. The Platform, as-is, is kinda boring, but it is functional. It does what it sets out to do and does it well, and that is to be commended. In the future, however, it could do more, and look better doing it, but these features are not necessary.
Very good suggestion. Hopefully the next release does come a Launchy Type functionality.
I've checked on Launchy and unfortunately, it is not portable.
Well if I may ask, is launching a program the only thing you need? If so I can probably write you a script that would allow you to configure an INI file for the files you want to launch and maybe ill include a fileselect prompt to make that easier. Just let me know and ill see what i can do.
Edit: And i may be able to make it function like launchy but it wouldnt have a nice interface like it but mine would be portable and could index exe's in both your usb and from the startmenu shortcuts. Ill try to work something up that could do this because I am now sorta interested in this idea.

I am very interested in this idea, too! Please see what you can do. I have used Launchy, but it is not portable. And sometimes I find it difficult to launch some of the programs I do not use often.
k, ill see what i can do. I should have something working later today so if I do post it, it will probably be in the Beta forums.

Launchy does have a portable mode in the configuration.
Limits are for people with no imagination.
Well idk if anyone still wants what I have cause I have the following features right now and they work pretty well.
Scans current user startmenu then the all userstartmenu so you should be seeing all of your links in the program. The only flaw I have right now is that you must know the file extension of the file you want to open. For example if you have firefox installed locally and you type in "firefox", it will not recognize it but if you type in "firefox.exe" it will recognize and all you have to do is hit enter and it will execute that program. I need to implement some hotkeys(working on this) and also configure other path scanning for link files and then probably executables by default and the user will be able to define others later on. Then i need to make this be able to minimize to tray and also the the hotkeys currently implemented in this will not mess with other programs hotkeys and they will only execute if the program is the active window. I will post this in the beta ASAP for people to try it out and give me suggestions, feedback, and also possibly a name for it and an icon. So check the beta forums in about 10-15 min and it should be there. Hope you guys will like it even though it is pretty basic.

Not sure if it's the kind of thing you want but Rocketdock is freeware and can be portable.
I use Pstart, it's very easy to set up and can be used standalone or as a menu item on PortableApps. Other launchers you may like are Asuite and 8start.
