New in This Release

This release updates OpenOffice.org to 3.1 (release notes) and features an improved installer and Windows 7 support. It also works with the recently-released Java Portable add-on.

Extra Icon Sets

Extra icon sets (Classic, Crystal, High-Contrast, Industrial and Tango) are available as an optional Image Pack download to save space. The new (and much improved) Galaxy icon set is included by default.

Working Closer With OpenOffice.org

This release marks another milestone as we work more closely with the OpenOffice.org team. We'll be sharing resources and using their QA process moving forward for releases as we become a more official part of the OpenOffice.org world.

PortableApps.com Installer / PortableApps.com Format

OpenOffice.org Portable is packaged in a PortableApps.com Installer so it will automatically detect an existing PortableApps.com installation when your drive is plugged in. It will automatically upgrade an existing OpenOffice.org Portable installation without affecting your settings. And it's in PortableApps.com Format, so it automatically works with the PortableApps.com Suite including the Menu and Backup Utility.

Download

OpenOffice.org Portable is available for immediate download from the OpenOffice.org Portable homepage. You can get the German release from the German homepage and the Dutch, French, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese, Polish, Portuguese, Russian and Simplified Chinese releases from the Localization page. Hi Guys,

Just a quick note on my experience with this installer/download.

It did not check to see if OOP was running/open and then fails to delete/overwrite some files.

It's easy enough to close the instance and simply clicking "retry", but I'm not sure if all users will (want) figure this out so it would be better to add a check like the FFP installer for running instances if at all possible.

Then the link it uses to go and register your new copy of OOP does not work. I.e. https://registration2.services.openoffice.org/RegistrationWeb/register/u...

Thanks for all the gr8 work you guys are doing!

Regards
Paul

It is set to, unfortunately, it looks like it's an installer bug when the EXE to close is different than the one that starts the app. Sad It'll be fixed in the next installer release.

First of all, congratulations to the new release!

There seems to be some confusing about the new file naming scheme.

last version: OpenOffice.org_Portable_3.0.1_de.paf.exe
new version: OpenOfficePortable_3.1.0_German.paf.exe
new link: OpenOffice.orgPortable_3.1.0_German.paf.exe

So none of the links actually work.

I just installed OpenOffice.org 3.1.0 today, and my virus scanner said this file had a virus in it:
\OpenOfficePortable\App\openoffice\Basis\program\Inthmi.dll
Trojan: W32/Trojan.AODP

I am using FRISK F-Prot Anti-Virus. The program and virus definitions are up to date.
Does that file show as a virus for anyone else?

Just downloaded OOo 3.1 Portable and installed it to a USB hard disk outside the PA Launcher. Came to run the installed Calc (spreadsheet) link and only get a continual application crash.

Normal OOo 3.1 works fine on my laptop, so got to be something down to this portable version. Shame, I was looking forward to using this.

My OS is Vista Home.

ADDED: Just solved it! Installed the portable application effectively three folders down. Moved it up one level and it is working fine.

Problem solved. Will keep my eye open for that in future.

OpenOffice.org has some *HUGE* paths within it... really, really deep. So if you install anything deeper than your X:\PortableApps directory, you can run into problems.

... for having this new release out.

The imagepack for 3.1 will come in the middle of July.

Language packs are not planed for the languages with full packages but there will be some packs (or additional full packages) in vietnamese and some other langs at the same time as the imagepack too.

Thank you, Marko, for all your work on this one! Smile

OO is not starting under Vista business X64.
Local installed Versions are working.

It is the same answer as before:

The problem is you've installed it too deep, and the path name runs too long. Install it to the default location, X:\PortableApps\OpenOfficePortable, and it'll work.
