hi there, can anyone tell me how to make close [x] button visible if only one tab is opened? http://img26.imageshack.us/img26/5373/beztytuuvdf.jpg
i've set browser.tabs.closeWindowWithLastTab to false and now i can close the last tab with middle mouse button but the close button is still missing
I think the RC itself is built that way. Check if it works that way on a local install and maybe see if it's listed as a bug or feature at http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
now that's a quick answer!
maybe you're right, but i'm sure it can be done, maybe with userChrome.css or something like that, i'm not that good, so i'm asking you guys
There is a Firefox addon — Tab X 2.0 — which apparently works with FF 3.5 even though it hasn't been updated since 2006. "Makes the close buttons on the tabs always visible, even if there are lots of tabs open, and irrespective of the hidden browser.tabs.closeButtons preference."
You'll have to be the guinea pig. I just use Ctrl + W myself.
nope, still doesnt work, any other ideas?
the X means to stop or close something, but what?
On number of Tabs, the X has 'moved' kind of to the active tab for static fuctions. The 'main' X on the top is still operational during let say page being downloaded at the moment. During this time the X comes back and is red and functional, you can stop the current loading of a page. If you are on a very fast connection, you might hardly notice that it will do something. But try on slower connection, it will allow you then interrupt or abort the loading of the currently called page.
In other words, what do you expect it to do when the page is loaded and static in front of you ?
OK let say on IE it remains still 'active', you can click on it. But it has no function when the loading is done. It is then just a dummy button you can click on, just to click on, but will not cause anything to happen.
I think this confusion wanted the developers at mozilla have cleared.
