Is there a portable application that can do this? I have looked around and found a few that are shareware or nearly portable (i.e. not stealth etc.). I am constantly organising large amounts of Data between different folders and HDD. Windows Explorer is ridiculously inefficient and Xenon is still too limited in it's functionality.
Sophisticated renaming functions and tabbed interface would also be handy.

it isn't open source, but there is a free versions, and there is also a portable version from the app author.
There is a thread about it at https://portableapps.com/node/11958
and also a thread about integrating it with Xenon, the portable explorer replacement at https://portableapps.com/node/18644
... it seems by the thread that the author has released it here for testing his portable version. The only testers comment so far is negative so I guess I'll have to wait or keep looking.
Don't know if this program will help but I really like it. FreeCommander is a freeware, multi-pane file manager with lots of features, including its own copying engine. There isn't a queue as such, but given that you can have multiple panes open in one window, it does make copying files from different locations much easier than using multiple Windows Explorer windows. In addition, it's multi-threaded so you can do several operations at once.
It hasn't been updated in a while and IMHO does still need a little work but it's fully functional and seems to be stable.
