Sorry to say but this isn't working for me When I run the app I get the splash but nothing else. I opened Task Manager and had a look and when clicked Warzone2100Portable.exe opens but Warzone2100.exe doesn't? After a couple seconds Warzone2100Portable.exe dies. I tried this initially installing over previous pre-release and issue occurred. Deleted the folder altogether to start from scratch and issue again occurred. Even rebooted computer, did a fresh install and the error still occurred. Even installed to C;\ to test and error recurred.
I'm fairly sure I successfully ran the pre-release for a while but haven't played with it in a while as was waiting for it to go official. Does anyone have any ideas?
On a side note, this gave me the idea of integrating some sort of -dev command parameter that creates a log of an application run. This way when bug testing an end user has the option of running the application with this parameter and posting the log for the developer to diagnose any bugs.
EDIT: As a test I downgraded back to the pre-release installing over the top of final version install and it works without issue. Bug is isolated to the official release
I've already confirmed this issue based on a user's report and have the fixed version ready. It's being posted to SourceForge now.

This has been fixed in Revision 2.

I just realised there is no sound at all when running rev 2 and I don't think there was for the first release wither. I checked an sound does work in the pre-release.

Sound works for me just fine on a Vista machine without Warzone installed locally. The files within the pre-release and the release match, so nothing is missing that I can see.

I'm using XP SP3 without the game installed locally. As said before the pre-release works but the final doesn't. Will keep trying different things to isolate issue.

Try this file:
https://portableapps.com/temp/wrap_oal.dll
And put that in App\Warzone2100

I also used to have a problem with sound not playing. After putting wrap_oal.dll where you said it plays alright and everything is fine.
However, the Intro Video doesn't play (before or after this dll addition).
For the record, I downloaded the low resolution add-in.

Confirming wrap_oal.dll fixed the sound issue. I also had the same video issue listed below. I'll have to re-download the videos and test with new .dll in place. However yesterday I had downloaded the high quality videos and they were not showing.

Apologies for the headache but just wanted to check if rev 3 addresses the video issue mentioned above?
PortableApps.com Advocate
Still no video in rev 3. When I click intro video, the screen just flashes as if it tries to play the video but then I am back at main menu.

here.
The thing that I dont get is that the videos are one big file inside the App folder. Shouldn't it be inside the App/Warzone2100 folder?
It has no extension. It took me a while to realise that its a zip file with additional folders in it. Maybe the sequences folder needs to be extracted to the App/Warzone2100 folder in order to make it work?

This is unrelated to any issues within Warzone2100 itself. It should be downloaded to App\Warzone2100. And if you look in the plugininstaller.ini in the Other\Source directory, you'll see that it is set to.
UPDATE: It was a bug in the video installers. They were set to App\Warzone2100 instead of App\Warzone 2100. Installers version 1.1 (which should hit the SourceForge mirrors soon) fix the issue.

Given that some might not want to redownload the hundreds of MBs (if they already have), here is a manual solution to view videos:
1. Go to folder "App"
2. You will find a file named WarZone2100
3. Rename it to WarZone2100.zip (adding a zip extension)
4. Extract the contents of that file to App\Warzone 2100
5. You should have a folder named "sequences" inside App\Warzone 2100. Enjoy!

All you need to do is rename Warzone2100 to sequences.wz and move it from App to App\Warzone 2100. No need to extract or anything.

Thanks for the tip. Better have it compressed

that it was an error in the video installers.

Alright, me tested 2.2.4 Rev 3. Warzone Portable didn't work here in fullscreen mode (which is the default). I saw just the splash and that was all. So I launched it once and then edited the file Data\settings\config:
Set "fullscreen=0" and now it works.
I installed the low resolution videos (manually, not with live installer), and they don't work too. But I have an "stderr.txt" in App\Warzone now, which says:
Win XP Sp3
Btw: The DefaultData folder isn't used at all and could be removed.
Nope, I guess its needed by the menu for some reason.

none of my apps has a DefaultData folder. 8) In fact, it isn't needed.

I remember "arguing" (as much as one argues) with John about it. I could be (and am probably) wrong.

The launcher is not detecting the ini file and can not be configured. Does anyone else have this problem?..
Copy the Warzone2100Portable.ini into the folder "\Warzone2100Portable\Data" and it should work.
