sync outlook with portable app?

hi all,

does anybody know an app that can sync my outlook at work (some kinda of MS activesyn) with my new smart phone. they blocked all software installment and activesync is not allowed to because of security(?!) resaons.

I read somewhere that active sync is not possible to make portable but is there other software that can do the same?

tx!

security reasons?

If they've banned it for security reasons, and you work around it by using some other app, I kinda think that you'll be looking for a new job when they find out.

Your workplace has a specific policy that you should not sync portable devices (your phone) from Outlook. This is to prevent the leakage of sensitive data outside of the office and their control. That means that you shouldn't do it.

Don't forget that you almost certainly have confidential information stored in your Outlook. Not only all your calendar appointments, but also possibly emails to and from both customers and suppliers, discussions of policies, pricing, internal issues, contact details for colleagues and other associates, possibly a fair fraction of the company's customer database, etc. There are a lot of reasons why a company will not want that sort of data being dumped onto a mobile phone.

That said, there are quite a number of apps that can sync to various mobile devices, but they all tend to be very specific to a particular type of smartphone, so without more information on the specifics, people probably won't be able to help you much.

i know it is kinda a work

i know it is kinda a work around on the ecurity policy but if even out system admin is not happy with the policy i'll be fine. the weird thing is they gave indeed the reason that sensitive meterial can be transfered to a portable device but hy i can just use a usb stick in the same computer so why is a phone then more of a security risk...

anyway i'm not sure if i will use it just wondering if it is possible.

the smart phone i'm using is the HTC hero wich runs Andriod
