What's New In This Release
This release packages the beta of the upcoming 4.0 release of Google Chrome as a portable app. It will install alongside your standard install of Google Chrome in a GoogleChromePortableTest folder, allowing you to test out the beta of the upcoming version without impacting your main Google Chrome Portable install.
PortableApps.com Installer / PortableApps.com Format
Google Chrome Portable is packaged in a PortableApps.com Installer so it will automatically detect an existing PortableApps.com installation when your drive is plugged in. It supports upgrades by installing right over an existing copy, preserving all settings. I was gonna put one of these
I was gonna put one of these together myself, I swear. ;P Thanks.
I'm just waiting for a new dev build. I've been thinking... we probably shouldn't do dev builds on the front page since they come out so frequently. Anyone interested in those can download my personally compiled builds.
Registry Entries
There are a couple reports of registry entries left behind in some circumstances in the forums. Let's worry about addressing those first.
And on the beta, I only needed to change 3 lines in INI files to update it.
Hmm I didn't see anything
Hmm I didn't see anything like that, I'll check it out.
And yes, I am happy how easy your PA installer makes it to update my personal builds of the GCP installer.
Dev build
Sure, I'd be happy to try out the latest dev build as I understand these are the only ones with extensions enabled at the moment.
I'd like to try out http://www.chromeextensions.org/appearance-functioning/lastpass-password...
enabling extensions
Hi, what's the possibility of running chrome.exe with the parameter ––enable-extensions ?
The help.html file has a
The help.html file has a section on adding parameters, it is right before the changelog.
found that, thank you
but when changing the appropriate line to :
AdditionalParameters=––enable-extensions
Chrome tries to go the following URL after start:
http://xn--enable-extensions-802ja/
and - the extensions are not working
extensions still not there?
I have no idea why, but after adding the params, I'm still getting a pop-up that extensions aren't enabled (upon installing them).
Extensions . . .
You need to use the dev version of chrome (https://portableapps.com/node/21128) not the beta.
thanks a lot... makes sense
thanks a lot... makes sense now
sweet!
Is this the beta version that includes the bookmark sync feature? Thanks
Problem with the new beta
There seems to be a wee problem when installing the new chrome beta into the same directories as the last beta (4.0223.9). It seems to wipe out all extensions, bookmarks, etc. Good thing I had a backup.
EDIT: forget what I said about the bookmarks & etc.
But, the extensions are not enabled though in this version.
EDIT2: Never mind, this appears to be the beta version & not the dev channel version
what about pdf viewer
