Hi,
I just installed Toucan 2 on my USB drive.
I created a backup job: Type differential, format 7-zip, compression max, password box checked.
I click RUN and enter my password (twice). The backup is performed no problem.
Then, I run 7-zip and open my archive (basefile.7z). I am able to open and view everything without being asked for the password. Not sure the backup file is even encrypted...
Is that normal?
Thanks,
Pierre
I don't ordinarily encrypt backups, but just to see what would happen, I ran a test case.
I can confirm that the encrypted backup process asked for the password twice, appeared to run correctly, created the backup file as requested, WITHOUT encryption, as you have found.
If you have anything there that you need encrypted, you should use 7-ZipPortable and make a 7z backup file that is really encrypted.
Edit: Welcome to PortableApps, Pierre. I'm sure that Steve, the Toucan author will have a look at the issue.

Thanks J,
Yes, I have 7-ZIP portable but I would prefer to use Toucan because I really like the differential feature (not available in 7-zip).
Regards,
Pierre
