Hi all,
I am hosting a vmware Win XP virtual machine on my Win XP laptop. The VM is mounting the host "My Documents" folder.
In the host My Documents folder I have a "My PortableApps" folder which is the normal root of the PortableApps folders.
I want to use the PortableApps menu system and some of the apps contained within it from my VM. However, if I try to run say FireFox Portable in my VM while it is already running in my host machine then I get an error (which is understandable).
I am thinking that it might be possible to utilize all of the programs and config from the host instance of PortableApps inside the VM by duplicating the folder structure as links back the original folders but retaining real folders for any data that is instance-specific.
Has anyone tried anytjing like this? Is there anything ready-made out there to do this?
Thanks!
avmad
Firefox is designed for a single instance running from a given profile at a time. Otherwise the two instances will step on each other and corrupt the profile. There is no direct way around that.
