I'd like to ask whether or not it is possible to use the Official Extensions Gallery (https://chrome.google.com/extensions)to install extensions using Portable Apps Google Chrome (Using DEV 4.0+). I currently cannot install any of the extensions available on the site.
Whenever I visit the galley, I get this message: "Extensions are not yet supported in this version of Google Chrome. Please download the Beta Channel of Google Chrome to install extensions."
So, if it is possible, please provide instructions as to how I can enable the installation of extensions on the gallery. If not, can anyone provide me any information as to when support will be provided?
Although I know there is an alternative site for extensions (http://www.chromeextensions.org/), I'd like to use the one Google is providing us.

I have the same issue--sort of. I'm running GCP 4.0.245.0 (Dev build). Funny thing is, I was able to install extensions in the dev build I was running before upgrading to this one, and those extensions still work, and I can even install extensions from http://www.chromeextensions.org. I just can't install any from the official Google Chrome extensions site. I get the same error as you describe. Might not be an issue with GCP--might be a problem with that site. Hard to believe that Google would block their recent dev builds from installing extensions from their official extensions site, though.
Yeah, there is currently a problem.
If you havethe last Chrome release on your computer (4.0.249.30) and you try to install the last Portable App Chrome Release (on a USB device), it overwrites your local version and ... you lose Extesntion Management and have to reinstall.
Would be nice to have a Google Chrome Portable App version 4.0.249.30 with this new nifty Extension Management feature caus it's really a blast !
Could be also nice 2 Chrome versions don't overwrite each other and have both their own directory

I didn't have a local copy installed. I use Chrome on a work computer where I cannot install software. I was running a prior Dev Build of Google Chrome Portable, and the only thing I lost was the ability to install extensions from the official Google Chrome website. Extension management and installation from chromeextensions.org still work.
Hi, I am about to release the latest Dev Test of GCP which updates Google Chrome in Dev and Beta to the latest versions. These versions are able to use the Extensions gallery and there should be no portability issues... extensions are extremely locked down in what they can do unlike with Firefox so I don't see any problems.

I downloaded Google Chrome Portable Beta Test (http://downloads.sourceforge.net/portableapps/GoogleChromePortableTest_4...) from the Google Chrome Portable page.
However, I still can't enable extensions. This page tells me that to enable extensions in Chrome beta I have to add the flag "–enable-extensions" to the start-up command. This is easy enough if I create a shortcut somewhere, but how can I make it do this from the PortableApps.com Menu?

Hi, Beta should have extensions enabled by default now. At any rate I should release another build soon where all builds have extensions enabled so that option will be moot.

I tried both those suggestions.
First I downloaded the latest Google Chrome Beta (4.0.223) and then dev from here:

And then I went to this page:

And it says "Extensions are not yet supported in this version of Google Chrome. Please download Google Chrome to install extensions.".
Then I copied GoogleChromePortable.ini into my base "GoogleChromePortableDev" directory, with that "AdditionalParameters" option, and the above still happened.
It would be great if someone could bring out
"Google Chrome Portable 4 Stable" (https://portableapps.com/node/22319) but I know it's all on volunteer time, and I don't think I have the know-how to do it, so I can't complain.

Google Chrome Portable 4.0 is already in testing:

It's just awaiting an official release, so go get it and test it so we'll have another tester on board and hopefully get it out officially quicker.
You can load extensions into Google Chrome Portable if you use set up Google Sync. You have to use another installation (perhaps home?) of Google Chrome where you load your desired extensions. Once you set up the sync, those extensions will be installed into your portable installation.
I have not tested this arrangement extensively, but AdBlocker is working for me.
