So, in summary, there's going to be a Music Production suite soon, and you're dropping this money to promote it?
Sounds like a great idea :).

Yeah, well, all this really does is make me question whether or not I want to continue using PortableApps... now, tell me no one there will have any affiliation with the RIAA--then I'll be impressed.

Well, considering that the main partners on this music project have both made their music available online in MP3, AAC, OGG, FLAC and ALAC formats at name your own price downloads (including free) and are making available the stems and vocals from a song each as part of the suite for remixers to use under a CC license, I'd say you're OK to continue using PortableApps.com Smile

I love that people still reference that site. It's still the best April fool's joke I've done so far.

Got to love this:

"We no longer have to have both the movie and music industries buying up senators and congressmen to get restrictive copyright laws passed," Glickman explained. "Now the representatives will be getting one sack of money from one organization. The cost savings to us will be tremendous."

Nice joke!

"The question I would like to know, is the Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe and Everything. All we know about it is that the Answer is Forty-two, which is a little aggravating."

Pirate Bay just referenced it last week, too. In their last mainpage message (the ACTA treaty leak for the curious) they had a picture of a guy holding a briefcase that said "MAFIAA" on it.

I think you coined a new term, John. Smile

That well be cool Smile I would love to have come, but I'm in va Sad
Will there be any pictures/videos of it?

I know it's kind of a leap, but is this indication that Audacity 1.3.x is coming soon to PortableApps.com? There are features in 1.3 not present in 1.2 that I need and that's just for making ringtones. I don't think anyone takes the "beta" tag seriously, including Audacity's authors -- especially them.

John T. Haller's picture

As stated earlier, we will NOT push "beta" software as stable. It's Audacity's call, not ours. If they call it a beta, then in their mind it is not fit for production use. We will be releasing Audacity Beta as a PAF as time permits but the stable version will be the one promoted to most users.

Damn if I didn't have to be in Vermont tomorrow I would have totally taken the 2 hour trip just for that (compared to 6-7 from Vermont xD)

If you're a PortableApps forum 'regular' attending this event, identify yourself to John so he can get a group photo. That would kick booty!
