When Thunderbird starts up it hangs on "Determining which messages to Index" and fails to load any mail.
The account settings are still displayed but no mail.
I am concerned about not do anything that will stop me recovering the data!
I can read other data from the flash drive OK.
Can anyone recommend a procedure so that I can at least recover my mail?
Tom,
Mine has been hanging on "Determining which messages to Index" also. I just click on the "Get Mail" icon and it continues normally. This happens about every third time I start the program. I hope it doesn't lock up permanently.
I figured if it was serious somebody else would ask and get an answer.
About every week or two I copy the entire flash drive to an identical "back up" drive. Before I do this I put the old "back up" on a SD card. It only takes a few minutes and I always have recent usable copies in reserve with most bookmarks, emails and documents.
