Back up

I created a 'complete'(all files on your portable drive) back up from an old flash drive. I have downloaded and installed the new platform to my desktop. I run 'restore from back up' on the new platform by selecting the 7z archive....wait for several minutes for the process to complete, click on finish. Go to new platform and nothing seems to be restored, the left hand pane is empty, no Firefox, etc ,etc ?
I'm using the platform only installation - Although I have been using PortableApps for years I have never tried to do this before, obviously I'm doing something wrong?

Please help

Location?

Is the location the same for both (example: was it X:\PortableApps\ on the old drive and X:\PortableAPps on the new drive)? Have you opened the 7z file to ensure all your files are in it? (A local or portable copy of 7-Zip can do that).

Thank you for your fast reply to my question.
I have checked Zip and all files are present. With regards to location I'm a little confused, I had hoped that I could simply install old files on the new platform via my desk top then a later stage copy and paste to a new flash drive in a few days time.

Yes and No

The restore must be done to a standard PA.c Platform installed to the root of a drive, just like on your old drive.

Of course, since it's a 7z file, you can just unzip it anywhere you'd like if you want. Keep in mind that some apps do not like having their paths switches (drive letters changing are fine, but changing a path from X:\PortableApps\AppnamePortable to X:\Users\Name\My Documents\PortableApps\AppnamePortable will break some.
