Application: Tremulous
Category: Games
Description: Tremulous is a free, open source game that blends a team based FPS with elements of an RTS. Players can choose from 2 unique races, aliens and humans. Players on both teams are able to build working structures in-game like an RTS. These structures provide many functions, the most important being spawning. The designated builders must ensure there are spawn structures or other players will not be able to rejoin the game after death. Other structures provide automated base defense (to some degree), healing functions and much more...
Download Tremulous Portable 1.1.0 Development Test 1 [96 MB download / 103 MB installed]
Release Notes:
Development Test 1 (2008-09-21):
- Initial release of v1.1.0
Notes:
The configuration files of the base game are backed up. Because Mods have arbitrary folder names it's virtually impossible to back these settings up as well.
Mods, maps and other files are downloaded into the app folder. Please understand that these downloaded files are not moved to the data folder. Please understand that the space required for the game might increase as more maps (or mod's) are downloaded.
The launcher uses a standard PAF launcher but without the use of the splash screen. The Splash screen pushes the fullscreen game to the background if it was used.
The launcher script itself might need some cleaning up.
The Engine is released under GPL and the game content under Creative Commons (Attribution, Share Alike). Most games use seperate licenses for code and content.
The engine source is (for now) moved into the Other/Source/ folder.(about 2MB). The changelog, copying and other text files are (for now) moved into the Other/Source/ folder. The manual.pdf is moved into the Other/Manual folder.
It's a game, which mean Ima try it out
*Edit*
It's really good. I had no problems with it when I played it.
The game works and launches fine.
I'm looking forward to playing this but one small issue. I thought I recall hearing somewhere that tremulous required some preinstalled stuff like libraries or graphics drivers or something. hopefully am wrong though.

the gl libaries are required for linux but windows drivers already have the so you'll need a 3d graphics card.
Graphic drivers is something that's never included in any game.
And 'binaries' might used to pioint to the time when Tremulous was an addon for Quake 3 Arena, but the source of the engine has since then been released under GPL.
Testing
*EDIT*
Computer didn't blow up, but it looks like I'' have to read the manual

Okay here is the results from my work computer. Please note that a Windows Firewall popup cameup saying it had clocked some functions of the program. Do you think you can send me an email at horusfozatgmaildotcom that way i can just email you stuff regarding REGshot results as I will probably test everyone of your games as I want games to be more integrated into PA.
Cheers

Any chance your still working on this?

Anyone likely to take over development of this? Logan did get this working on the machines I've tested. Only issue is you need rights enough to add and remove a firewall entry.
Also both the launcher and base application are now outdated.

I think he has left. I haven't seen him around recently.

I'm kinda antsy to take this one over (as well as a few of his other ones). I think he posted a month or two back, but as far as development he doesn't seem to have been active.
I'm going ahead and taking this over. New development test should be up in a few days.
Shweet!

You've said previously in this thread that you wanted more games officially supported, and I currently have a couple games that nobody has tested.
<shameless plug>There's also netPanzer Portable, which could use a tester or two... ;)</shameless plug>
Hey, I think we need more gamers on here!
"The question I would like to know, is the Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe and Everything. All we know about it is that the Answer is Forty-two, which is a little aggravating."
Planning on testing but limited bandwidth for next 2 weeks so Cube and Sauerbraten are no go's for now
Can I ask why are you developing Cube while working on Sauerbraten?
Oh and Tremulous will be another up there on the to do list as soon as it's available

Cube isn't really that big. There's OpenTTD, too. And don't forget Blood Frontier, although that's a big one too.
Is there a reason against having both?
I also intend to do Xonotic (Nexuiz fork) once it gets its first release, and a couple others (among non-games).
