After much Hesitation I've desided to start using Thunderbird (portable edition). However, when I try to delete an email I get "The current command did not succeed. The mail server responded: [TRYCREATE] The requested item could not be found.." I went offline and deleted the email, then again from the trash bin, and it was gone. But when I got online again, I received the same email I had just deleted (obviously, it's still in the server). Please help, thanks
PS: John (and helpers), thanks for all the fantastic programs that you're putting out. I really appreciate the "free" work you do here, and it makes me mad to see when some people complain. They just don't see what goes on behind the cameras.
This is actually an issue with the IMAP server. Some server have issues with moving to Trash (I know Exchange 2000 servers have this issue... since they have pretty bad IMAP support... not sure about newer versions). Try heading to Tools - Accounts - [AccountName] - Server Settings and set When I delete a message to Remove it immediately.
Glad you like the apps, btw

It worked, I was able to delete the message. But is there another way to do this? After I delete a message from TB, I start MSO and I have the same message that I had just deleted. This could be a problem because some co-workers send me things that need to be deleted from the server right away (if you know what I mean).

This isn't a portable-specific issue, so you'll probably find a better answer elsewhere. I found the above answer via Google. You could also try the standard TB support forums over at mozillaZine.org.

If anybody else has this same problem, the solution can be found here
