If you downloaded a copy of Google Chrome Portable with the Development Test Splash as soon as you saw this announcement, please re-download after waiting 10 to 15 minutes. A version with the splash propogated to some download mirrors. The correct installer has an MD5 of 6d3ebf103c0c649b09d1c3c25b98023d.

Yay Biggrin Thank you so much. Smile
I've been waiting for this release.
And BTW, the new installer looks awesome! Biggrin

This is OLD, the current version is 6.0.422.0

Sometimes making love is just not enough, you have to step it up!

the 6.0.* series is a development series, where Google sometimes releases several revisions a day. it would be impossible to keep the development branch up to schedule, as by the time a portable release is completed, they could have another release from google.

As Zach says, this version will always be old. That's why we just call it a 6.0 Dev. If I update it today, it'll be outdated tomorrow and we don't chase moving targets like that. This is just an occasional thing (usually in conjunction with a stable release) where we put a new one up.

Smile Just think John, if you did chase moving objects you would get plenty of exercise and would not have to go to the gym so often Smile Which brings up another question. Why do dogs chase cars? And what is their intention if they actually were to catch one? Wink

Anybody got a clue on how to fix this?

Got this error:

"The installer was unable to download Google Chrome (5.0.375.55 Stable). The installation of the portable app will be incomplete without it. (ERROR: SendRequest Error)"

... while installing it. How can I fix it? Thanks in advance.

That means you're blocked by either your local network (usually an office) or Google (usually specific countries). Try again. Or try again on another network.

Why Chrome instead of Chromium? It's an open-source app. 100% free. 100% legal stuff free. etc etc. We could redistribute Chromium as a standard PortableApps installer instead of having to download Chrome straight from Google site.

Any opinion?

As stated the previous times it has come up, Chromium doesn't have any stable releases. Not even alpha or beta quality. It is used solely as a platform for building Chrome. And Chromium is completely unsupported.
