Donating with PayPal

I LOVE PortableApps and I LOVE the work you guys put in to it.

Really I wish I had the time and knowledge to be able to contribute something more than just bug reporting or forum posts because I honestly believe you guys are LEGENDS.

This brings me onto my main point...

I DO NOT LOVE PayPal.

Really I cant express how strong my feelings are against it. Now I am not going to rant about "how could you possibly only allow us to donate by PayPal!", but I would like to ask whether there are any plans to introduce any alternatives to donating with PayPal?

I know these things are not that easy to knock up securely, cheaply and easily but my reasons for no longer having a PayPal account are not simply a personal feud with the company (about 80% I'd say). I do not live in the country where my bank accounts are based which makes it remarkably difficult to authorise accounts or transactions online without being in that country, especially through PayPal. One day (pending favourable immigration officials) I hope to have a bank account or credit card in the country where I live but until then a PayPal account is just one pain in the backside I don't need to go through.

So for now, my financial appreciation of PortableApps will go ungratified, although I would like to take this opportunity to call on all my fellow PortableApps users (with PayPal accounts) to go ahead and donate!

Ways to Contribute

While money does indeed make the world go round, there are other way you can contribute to the success of PortableApps. I for example have self-imposed advertising banners on my website and one of them is for PortableApps. It's a small thing but it helps. Plus I've turned many people on to PortableApps, including a work colleague who was using Keepass (non portably) and she recently purchased a USB flash drive for the first time. I installed the PortableApps suite for her (along with Keepass) and she's loving it!

Now that I think about it, I might have to go back and update a few of my articles to reflect that a PortableApps version is available for some software I've reviewed.

Happy to see users like yourself though that are very enthusiastic about making tangible contributions. Smile

Slightly off-topic

but I wish that when PortableApps got a donation, there was a reply, just an auto-reply. I made a small donation, and PayPay assured me that it was received, but there was no confirmation from PortableApps.com. I keep wondering if someone else got the money. Smile

Much Later

Responses come a while after a donation when we check to see if you want to have your name listed when we add a donors page.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

Cool

I'm sorry if I've been a pain about this, I just want to make sure money goes where it is supposed to.
