So, I Googled for Format Factory Portable.
I found this Hit:
https://portableapps.com/node/18743
Is this legit?
I clicked on the link in there to supposedly download Format Factory Portable.
Something seemed odd about some of the text at the top.
I noticed it said, "Your prapper download will start shortly."
I couldn't remember exactly what it was supposed to say, but it seemed unfamiliar.
I later verified with another App that it's supposed to say, "Your PortableApps.com: Portable Software / USB download will start shortly."
So what's going on here? Was I at a rogue site or something?
Everything else looked just like Source Forge.
The download never seemed to start though.
prapper has a SF project for his development test releases. So you were downloading from project prapper on SF.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
What a relief that I hadn't encountered a rogue site.
Since this is only like my 2nd week here, I had no idea what a Prapper was.
I recommend you try XMedia Recode Portable instead of Format Factory.
Reasons being:
* Format Factory Portable is no longer in development
* XMedia Recode Portable is actively developed
* XMedia Recode does everything Format Fctroy does (in my experience so far)
* The developer of Format Factory had inserted an adsense regitstry key into the app some time ago when Prapper decided to discontinue his work on the portable version.
If you look at the thread you'll see I quite enjoyed the app but the author of the base version of Format Factory took his work in an unfortunate direction.

I bookmarked it, Horusofoz. For whenever it's officially released in stable version.
I don't actually have some active impending need for a format converter.
And since this one is "Alpha or Beta," Nnnnggg, I think I'll just keep it on standby.
About the only Betas and sometimes Alphas with which I mess around are Opera.
