Hmm?

It will show up as WinDjView Portable, with the WinDjView icon (if the publisher field shows up it will be Andrew Something-or-other & PortableApps.com).

No usability problems,

But what's with the "ChrisLauncher" folder?

Also, I think what he meant is that the icon for the launcher is the PA.c logo and not the app logo.

CPALT

ChrisLauncher is currently where my PortableApps.com Launcher Test (CPALT) stores its launcher configuration file (rather than NSIS code). If you are using the PortableApps.com Platform, you will see the WinDjView icon. Both of these are normal things; soon [almost] all our apps will be going this way.

Ah.

So in the future all the launcher .exe files will have the PA.c logo and there will be a separate launcher directory that stores an .ini file (that also replaces NSIS configurations)?

Yep

The current plan is to merge it into AppInfo.

Ah.

So since you're doing that now to this app, I take it this won't be official until that all happens?

Cool

My test results:

  • Clean on Win XPSP3 limited user
  • Could be updated to format 2.0 and latest PAL
  • about window on first run is annoying. Is it possible to have it not displayed?

I also put it onto the DevTest release page.

Updating

I'm in the process of updating this, I just haven't got to releasing it yet. Other than that, I believe it's ready for release. Concerning the About window, that's a feature of the app itself so we shouldn't touch it.

Updated

Over a year after the first and only previous release, here is Pre-Release 1. PAF and PAL updates, minor fixes and improvements.

Currently I have the Russian DLL in there, but it doesn't show in the View -> Languages menu; anyone got any idea about that? It's as it should be, but it just doesn't seem to be detecting it. I've tried putting that directory in the PATH and setting the working directory, but neither work.

If I can't get it working I may just remove it for official release and save a hundred kilobytes.

There seems to be something wrong with the dll you're using.

I got the WinDjViewRU.dll from the original installer, which makes it work fine Smile
Also according to WinMerge, there is a difference in the dll I'm using and the dll you are including Pardon

Here is a link to the dll file I used what makes the russian localization work.

FYI, there are a fair few additional languages available, but seem to have to be recompiled with probably MSVC++ 2010 ??? Maybe somebody who's able to compile .vcproj project files could give this ago. Here is a link to the source of the additional localization librabries.

Ah...

I had compressed it with UPX; my recollection is that it worked on Windows 98 which I was using at the time, which would explain not noticing that Russian vanished. Whether it did or not, I'll update it with an uncompressed version.

According to the project file, they should be compiled with MSVC 8.0 (Visual C++ 2005). If someone could do that, I'd include them and implement language switching.

UPX Broke It

UPX compression broke it. Uncompressing it doesn't fix it, it seems. So, if you drop the official one from the actual WinDjView in there, it works fine (provided your PC can display Cyrillic, I think). Here is the official one:
