HWiNFO32 Portable Release
Professional Hardware Information and Diagnostic Tool

Package in PAF: HWiNFO32 v4.06 in PAF
Few "just in case" notes:
1. In order to prevent storing of registry settings (in HKCU) do not check the "Remember Preferences" in the "Configure" window. All settings in this window are stored in the HWiNFO32.INI file.
2. Application installs its own driver. When the "Persistent Driver" option is unchecked (which is by default), it will uninstall it upon closing, so no other registry traces should be left.
If the application requires some further modifications, let me know !
in other thread missing splash screen, icon folders, etc.

Okay, a new build:
HWiNFO32 v3.52-770 in PAF
Is this better now?
The settings you list should be preset for it to be portable.
With the driver, you should be requiring administrative rights as drivers cannot be installed without said rights

The settings are preset and stored under DefaultData. I mention them only to let people know in case they try to change them...
What you mean by "requiring admin" rights? Is there a certain setting in some PA.c INI file that I need to add? Or anything else that's required?
You need to make sure that the launcher requires administrative rights so that it can install the driver. I do not use the launcher, so I do not know how to set it up.
As for the settings, thanks for that clarification.

So here's the build with Admin rights requirement in launcher:
HWiNFO32 v3.52-770.2 in PAF
Is *.* ok now?
HWiNFO32 v3.55
I'm also surprised that, although it's installing a driver, there hardly seems to be any registry key left behind.
Regshot, Windows XP sp3 professional:
I wanted to inform you about another option for the launcher.ini, WaitForProgram=false, since the launcher doesn't have a need to actually wait for the app to finish.
But after I done some testing on it I realized that the option will prevent the app from a secondary-launch. I did inform ChrisMorgan (the autor of the PALauncher) about this.
Another thing, it would be a nice addition, when the user re-launches HWiNFO32Portable that it would come to the front of the screen.
btw: Test was done on HWiNFO32 v3.55
Probably it's better to edit the main topic to include the newest version link !

Thanks for the hints. I updated the topic title.
I'll also check the re-launch issue, since this has been working in the past.
EDIT: Fixed the re-launch issue. Will be available in next release..
Is there any chance for an update? The last few versions have been skipped so far...
See title of this thread.
Thanks a lot, I'll test it as soon as I have time (maybe this evening).
Updated to v3.73
thank you for the update.
Thanks! I did some testing and it came out perfectly clean, no traces left.
Great App. Have you considered it being listed officially? I think it seems ready for release.
If so, there is a topic in the development section to post it: https://portableapps.com/node/11772
Or, as you are the developer, you may contact John directly: https://portableapps.com/about/contact
I'd be really glad to see this get listed officially.

I posted it in the "Apps Ready For Official Release" thread. Waiting for feedback...
Is this being updated? The release team is currently going through applications in order to ready them for release, and I see you have a newer version available on your website. If you still want this added to the PortableApps.com directory, please update the package so we can test it and prepare it for release.
I have posted the latest build of HWiNFO32 in PAF.
Let me know if there's anything needed (per e-mail preferred).
I think we're ready to launch this as official once it is updated to the latest version of the app and with the following changes:
[Launch]
ProgramExecutable=HWiNFO32\HWiNFO32.exe
RunAsAdmin=force
DirectoryMoveOK=yes
SupportsUNC=yes
It should also be updated to the current PA.c Launcher 2.2 and PA.c Installer and the new help graphics from the current PortableApps.com Template.
I would also suggest digitally signing the HWiNFO32Portable.exe launcher since it will show up with the UAC prompt. If you don't have a digital signing certificate available, we can sign it for use in your build. Just drop an email to the developers address.
Note: I'm also emailing the dev that this post has been made.

John, I have sent you an update according to your requirements.
Awaiting your feedback...
Any progress?
The last update I have from you was Nov 6 and it was the 32-bit only version. Last we had communicated, it was in my court to build a 32 + 64bit version but I have not had time to look at it yet. That sound right? But I also don't seem to recall getting a 64-bit build from you that uses the hwinfo.ini. So I was going to build it having PAL handle moving the file back and forth based on your regular portable package so you don't need to do a custom build for PA.c. Does that also sound right?
EDIT - I just emailed you what should be a release-worthy build.

John, I haven't got any e-mail.
Check your spam/antivirus folder. I sent it on 8/25 at 3:24pm NY time with a 4.9MB .paf.exe attached to the email you last emailed me from (same as you have registered for this site but without the 2). I could 7z it or host it temporarily if you're unable to receive EXEs.

I haven't found it. I guess the EXE file was the problem and it was completely deleted by the filter.
Please send it again and pack the EXE file using a password (best is RAR with encrypted filenames) or host it.
I've sent it as an encrypted 7z with encrypted filenames. Open source and free software can't make RARs due to its closed, proprietary bits.

Got it now. Will have a look at it and let you know shortly.
Thanks.
Looks nice to me.
I did what you asked (signed launcher, recompiled and signed installer).
The file is hosted here:
www.hwinfo.com/files/PortableApps/HWiNFOPortable_4.22-1970_English.paf.exe
Please check it and let me know. If it's OK and you're ready to publish at PA, I'll make it available thru HWiNFO website as well.
Would you contact mumak (Martin) to release the app please?
