Hooray! IrfanView is my image viewer of choice.
Thanks for IrfanViewPortable
Well this was out of the blue! Like Mazzter this is probably my favorite image viewer/manipulation tool. Guess I don't have to try to to learn to love XNView anymore.
Publisher cannot be verified
I'm getting a "publisher cannot be verified" on the installer. Is this legit?
Yes
We don't sign the installers of freeware apps.
.
Thanks!
I was already using this program on my flash drive, but the "normal" version.
Awesome
Using IrfanView for years, so far copied over to the flash drive, now as a native PAF, great!
Thanks for IrfanView! I got
Thanks for IrfanView! I got along with XNView Portable the last past months, but just because there was no IrfanView in PAc format and I had an issue with copying it manually. Now I can use my favorite!
All Plugins?
Does this install include all of the plugins?
BTW, IRFANVIEW has been available as a portable app for yrs through the developer, much like teamviewer or CCleaner. You just had to dig a little to find the zip download
Check out
The PortableApps homepage for the download and you will see at the bottom a reference to getting plugins and how to unzip them
I know
Hense I mentioned that they have had a portable version for years ... and that you have to search for the portable version
Plug-Ins
If you unzip and install all the plug-ins, will we still maintain the portability of PortalbeApp Irfanview?
Thanks, Irfanview has been one of my two favorits image editors (along with Photoscape)
See Page
As with standard IrfanView, the plugins are a separate download. Details on installing the plugins are listed right on the IrfanView homepage. Plugins are preserved as you upgrade IrfanView Portable.
While a zip was available, like most portable zip apps, it wasn't fully portable. Paths broke as you moved PCs when your device's drive letter changed and registry keys were left behind. Not to mention that every zipped portable app stores data in different places (making it nearly impossible to just quickly backup all your apps settings) and upgrades can get messy with some apps as unzipping new over old will wipe your settings (though IrfanView did not seem to have this particular problem others like Opera@USB, etc do).
Never had an issue
Doesn't mean the developer did not clean up the software to "portableapps" standards! Thank you for including in this format. Now I just need to wish all of the developers a Merry X-mas! Thanks for the apps
IrfanView yessssss!
IrfanView has been my basic image program of choice for a number of years now. As a matter of fact, although I am a pretty hardcore Open Source advocate, this is one of the few Freeware programs that I actually highly recommend to my peers.
Good job integrating this into the PortableApps platform!
Gee, IrfanView! I must admit,
Gee, IrfanView! I must admit, I missed it a little. Thanks!
The Kadmos OCR plugin makes it even more worthwhile having.
This can be installed from IrfanView’s plugins page, but I unzipped the exe manually to be on the safe side. It also paid downloading both the German and US versions, copying them together into one folder, and run "download additional languages" afterwards from within the plugin (downloads zip files and expands those into the plugins folder). Thus, you always get the latest dictionaries and recognition stuff. Works quite well with the right settings. You will want to adjust contrast/brightness (auto) and convert the image to grayscale before. Lines of text shouldn’t be too much distorted. With these settings, I could even have it recognise text from my screen, shot with a 2.5 megapixel digital camera. For scanned newspaper clips and the like it’s even better.
