Leaves a folder in

Leaves a folder in user\application data\. Nice app apart from that. Could switch from NexusFont to it, perhaps.

Thanks,
dj

-edit-
Perhaps rename the Installer to "AMPFontViewerPortable_3.86..." to make it more consistent (same name in all places).

Unicode text samples missing

A nice piece of software, and quite usable. Unfortunately, I use a different default sample text containing some Unicode characters:

Zwölf Boxkämpfer jagen Victor quer über den großen Sylter Deich.
0123456789 (.,:;-*!?') ÄÖÜẞ äöüß »« „“” ‚‘’ … –— ♂♀
The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.

This to easily check if a font contains some important characters for »real work«, i.e., typesetting.

AMP Font Viewer seems not to support input of unicode code points into the text sample box. I contacted the author about that, let’s see what the response will be.

Btw, the download file is called »FontViewerPortable_3.86_Dev_Test_1.paf.exe«, is that the correct one? I’d probably call it »AMP_Font_Viewer…« if the program is called like that, otherwise one tends to miss it in the folder with about a zillion other Portable Apps installers … Wink Same hold true for the folder, of course. I always look for »AMP«-something, but it’s under »FontViewerPortable«.

Pyromaniac: Thanks for making this thingy portable for us!

FirefoxPortable

Mozilla Firefox, Portable Edition is called FirefoxPortable...paf.exe.

I thought this should follow suite.

I can sse your point there,

I can sse your point there, but Firefox is well known as Mozilla Firefox and Font Viewer is nearly unknown to be from AMP Software (there are many programs called "font viewer" - google lists at least five different results on its first page, even one open source).
Firefox is one of the few exceptions, while about all other apps have mostly the same name for their .paf as in the Application list in PAM.

Legacy

That's actually a legacy thing because it was originally Portable Firefox and then we switched it to Firefox Portable. The name was then later changed to the current MFPE in our licensing talks with Mozilla but we kept FFP as the directory name and AppID to avoid making users change and the full name would be a bit too long.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
