New: CrystalDiskInfo Portable 3.10.0 (disk health monitoring) Released

logoCrystalDiskInfo Portable 3.10.0 has been released. CrystalDiskInfo monitors HDD/SSD health status and temperature, and does all the usual monitoring/graphing of S.M.A.R.T. information. It also tells you how many times the hard disk has been turned on and how many hours it's been on for. It's packaged in PortableApps.com Format so it can easily integrate with the PortableApps.com Suite. And it's open source and completely free.

I've been using this for some time now (locally).
And, its the secons app for today - one usefull, one funny!:)

EDIT:

It works as expected, preventing a run if its already running locally and the launcher sticks around if I resize it.

Hi ComputerFreaker, thanks for your work on this, but I'd like to point out a couple of things,
1-> It says up there

But it's not showing up in the updater, it appears that there is no entry for it in the PortableApps.com update.ini.
Could you add it to the update.ini?
I believe this is what it should say:

The sub categories in the updater.ini do not always match the site. A good 1/3 to 1/2 of app shortcut URLs are not live and will not go live until the app directory is revamped.

I assume this release doesn't include any of the adware (opencandy) that Crystalmark bundle in some of their official installers downloaded from their site?

I believe he is referring to OpenCandy. It's an installer add-in for local software installer (not portable installers) that is billed to suggest additional related software to what you install. It's a way for free software projects to make a bit of revenue from software installs. CrystalDiskInfo's local installer uses it. As does WinSCP and some of the other local installation packages for the portable software we produce.

It's a bit different from what most people think of as sneaky installers (some which try and install multiple browser toolbars, take over your homepage or default search provider, etc) as it is not selected on by default so you don't have to hunt for it. For example, the current WinSCP and CrystalDiskInfo installers both have a page right before the install confirmation page that offers to install Internet Explorer 9. There are two options, "Install Internet Explorer 9, Recommended by CrystalDiskInfo" and "Do not install Internet Explorer 9" and there are links to the license and privacy statement. Neither is selected and the user must select one before proceeding.

The PortableApps.com Installers have no such option to add something like OpenCandy in, so you have nothing to worry about one way or the other anyway.

Thanks for the clarification. Last time I downloaded one of the official installers with OpenCandy in it, Microsoft Security Essentials fired off to alert me of OpenCandy AdWare and it advised to delete the installer. Bit bizarre if Microsoft advertise IE9 using OpenCandy software if their own anti-malware solution blocks it...

MSSE shows an alert showing it as adware (not spyware or malware) and has no suggested action on detection. At least it did here when I checked it.

This is something that I am having difficulty understanding.

I have been using CrystalDiskInfo on my USB flash drive for a couple of years now. The program is already portable when you use the .zip file.

So, what is the point of having a PA launcher for this?

There are other program as well, like Notepad++, which I have been using on a USB flash drive before I got back into using PortableApps. But I do not understand what benefit there is using the PA launchers for these program, which are already portable.
