I'm not sure if this is because of some new Windows update or other software, but the autorun of the startportableapps.exe is no longer working. OS is Vista Home premium 64. It now opens a window asking me what I want to do.
Has anyone else had this problem?
TIA
autorun.inf on USB drives is now fully disabled. Just select to open the drive and then double-click StartPortableApps.exe

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
Bah--I hate M$!
But thanks for letting me know.
They did it to at least try and slow down malware from USB sticks.
Since this change was made, would it make sense to remove the file from the platform? Or make it an option you can choose during install? I rename it for now and W7 at least can't complain.

The computers that still have AutoPlay/AutoRun enabled for non-CD removable drives will continue to work fine with the autorun.inf as it is, and (AFAIK) those that have it disabled (whether by default, by user preference, or by this update) will simply ignore it, I see no reason to remove it from the default install.
