As of this posting, I see nothing about 4.0.1
I hate wasting sourceforge bandwidth on something unnecessary, so I usually check the release notes first. What is new with this?

Are they releasing the updates before the release is completed a la "Spaceballs: The Movie?"

Also, I noticed the badge next to "Like Firefox Portable? You'll love having Firefox on your PC" is for 3.6 but it links to a DL of 4.0.

Thank you!

Don't think the release notes will be posted til it's pushed to all users. Nearly every point release of Firefox has a security patch (as with other browser) and you should absolutely update.

I'm just throwing this out there so no need to comment, but with FF's new extension update tab you can see release notes by just checking within the updater. Of course it is not a high priority at this point but I thought I'd throw it out there if it hasn't already...but that would be great if the PA updater offered the same.

Anyway, thank you for the link and explanation. For high use, web dependent apps like FF I usually update regardless as John suggests, but not for the Gimp, Libre Office, etc. I don't like using the time or drive writes to update minutia.

That means the extension developers themselves only listed them as compatible through 4.0 when they should have done a broader maxversion in their configuration.

Hello John,

autoupdate does not work on PA.c Platform 2.0b5, for the german version of FF 4.0.1.

I just ran it in German and it worked exactly as expected. If you have an issue, please post a detailed error report in the forums with your install path, exact error message, current install location, current version, etc.

Hello John,

I had a Firefoxportable 4.0 RC2 installed. I removed it and installed 4.0.1, don't know why it wont update!?

Same was with jportable update 25. I did a manual download and installed it manually.

Everything else updated fine (Thunderbird, Chrome)

Is there a logfile, where I can see what's going wrong?

4.0 RC2 is a test release installed to FirefoxPortableTest. It doesn't update to any stable releases. FirefoxPortable and FirefoxPortableTest are treated as two different apps.

jPortable is an add-on, not a portable app, and will not be updated by the current updater. This detailed on every jPortable release announcement.

Hello John,

sorry, I didn't read that jPortable is an add-on. My fault. Even I didn't see before the first posting "autoupdate", that it was a FF 4.0 RC2 Test-Release.

Thank you for mentioning it.

Have a nice weekend. Smile
