Listary Portable 3.02.490 has been released. Listary is an excellent find-as-you-type search utility that makes searching items in large unmanageable lists of Windows applications a breeze. It works with items in Windows Explorer, Task Manager, Registry Editor, Windows Desktop, file Open/Save dialogs and other components. This release updates Listary to the latest version which uses a new settings format, which may ignore previous settings. Version numbering
Thanks for the update. Small issue: the included Listary is version 3.02, I think the package should follow this.

I know Listary Portable's version number isn't quite consistent with the website's, but I'm taking my cue directly from Listary itself. If you look at App\Listary\Win32\Listary.exe, the version number shown is 3.2.490.0, which is the same version number Listary Portable has.

Ok, I just checked the About box and the Website. This may irritate some users, though. What about keeping the PackageVersion for the updater and change the DisplayVersion to match the official Website and the About box?

Maybe the internal version of the base exe is not a reliable source for numbering packages, as there are many inconsistencies. Firefox 4.01 for example has 2.0.1.4120 or 2.0.1 or 4.0.1 depending on the field you choose. There are other examples where these numbers don't match the official declared version.
Equivalent
There's no issue here as, with version numbering, 3.2 = 3.02. It's the same version number just displayed differently. They're equal as far as Windows and the updater is concerned. To eliminate confusion, I've adjusted the display on the site. For the next release, I'd advise we have the display as 3.03, dropping the build number, and the package version as 3.3. Listary itself uses 3.02 in the about and when prompting users for updates, so that's what we should use on the portable version.
Firefox is an entirely different scenario as the EXE is labeled with both the app version and the version of the browser engine (the 2.x number).

That's what I meant. I have no problem with the numbering as I know how they are created but I thought of users that come here, looking for the version corresponding to the original app and may be confused finding a different one. It's all about surface impression.

I'll use 3.X.Y.Z for the PackageVersion and 3.0X for the DisplayVersion in the next release. We may want to put a note about the version numbering in the release statement so users aren't confused by the apparent drop in version number.
EDIT: I just checked my build history for Listary and there have been a couple of builds with the same major version and minor version (i.e. 2.0.203 and 2.0.392, or 3.1.468 and 3.1.477). How do you want me to handle that kind of scenario?
