can please somebody tell me where thunderbird stores the account-passwords?
I didn't find no info, neither here nor in the entire web(?!)
I'm asking this in association with the encryption-topic. Namely I intend to encrypt only those files where my passwords are, cause my USB-Stick is not the fastest and encrypting/decrypting the whole profile-folder takes nearly a minute. I plan to use (somehow) EncryptOnClick with only one batch-file, which makes it encrypt/decrypt only these files in both GAIM's and Thunderbird's profile-folder (and perhaps my address book).
What do you think about this solution? OK, IF someone gets my stick he will still be able to read some email-headers, but this is not that bad (at least for me).
P.S.: It wonders me that GAIM stores passwords simply in settings\.gaim\accounts.xml just next to the account-name in a ""-tag!

Since none of these are really specific to the portable versions, your best bet is to find out for the regular versions. Anything in your profile directory for FF, TB, etc would be in FirefoxPortable\Data\profile, for instance. Anything mentioned about Gaim is within GaimPortable\Data\settings. Etc etc.
Incidentally, setting a master password in FF or TB causes it to encrypt all the passwords it stores.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

...and I mean only these 2 password files.
Yes, I also searched info for the password-file of the regular version of thunderbird and somehow didn't nothing too. I'll try to post in the forum for the regular version.
About the master-password: my intent is to encrypt ALL protected stuff AT ONCE. I mean: start batch file -> type password -> ENTER and all the needed files for thunderbird, gaim and other apps are encrypted/decrypted at once. I'm just a "Make Your Life Easy"-freak
