Sandboxie

Would anybody consider making this into a portable app? It's an extremely useful tool, and I would love to have it on my USB stick.

I know that this app has been the object of earlier attempts by members of the PA team years ago, but all these efforts seem to have been discontinued, and the program sadly never made it to a portable app.

No

While I really like Sandboxie, there's a lot of reasons why previous efforts have been discontinued. I highly doubt you'll ever find a real portable version out there.

Essentially, that app could

Essentially, that app could lead to the "Everything Portable" people have been looking for. But unfortunately, the app uses system hooks that prevent it from running correctly on a standard limited account in Windows.

Portable version

Apparently there is a portable version around, which can be downloaded through the Sandboxie website - although it's not officially supported by the makers of Sandboxie.

I had a look at it and the directory structure certainly looks very familiar to PA users. I haven't tried to run it yet, mainly because if you google for "SandboxiePortable_2.3.0.4" you get a series of bizarre hits...

Is this app to be trusted, and is it really "portable"? Was it made by somebody from the PA team?
