I had to install portableapps on a new flashdrive, and when it finished loading the program started up. There were no apps in the menu area.
What did I do wrong?
Also when I came to portableapps.com I did not see any options on which version I wanted, whether it being the basic or the suite.
Please advise me on what to do...
Thank you,
Charles
I really do like the older portableapps program. It has saved my bacon in the past; I hope the new version will be albe to also. Ha!

is ala carte.....you choose what apps you want
1.6 is still available on site....you can down load that then install new platform over it.
Or on New platform choose apps...get apps....then choose which programs you want to install

Am I correct in thinking that I have to reinstall all my apps to get them in the menu?

if this a new stick you need to install eah one individually

Did you already have apps on this stick? If so, where are they? And where did you install the platform?
The platform should be installed to the root directory, X:\. In there it creates a PortableApps and Documents directory and then a Start.exe file. All your portable apps go in the PortableApps directory in their own directory (FirefoxPortable, etc)
If you were upgrading manually from an earlier build, be sure to install to the place that Start.exe or StartPortableApps.exe is. Do NOT install to an existing PortableApps directory of you end up with X:\PortableApps\PortableApps and then it looking for apps within there.

I've been using PortableApps products for years, so I have a good many installed. I keep them in 2 places, a portable hard drive that I travel with, and on the home PC (faster and doesn't take a USB slot), backing up one to the other regularly.
I have a PortableApps directory on the C drive, with the apps in subdirectories below that. I was confusedly thinking that the PortableApps directory would be the equivalent of the root on a stick, but now that you mention that it creates the PortableApps directory, I know better. Does anything bad happen if the directory is already there?

It should be fine, though the Start.exe will be picked up and displayed in the menu. As long as you have no apps installed or documents in that sub-platform, you can delete the C:\PortableApps\PortableApps and C:\PortableApps\Documents directories and the Start.exe and autorun.inf within the C:\PortableApps\ directory.
