[Closed] PortableApp Menu crashes when coming back from sleep mode

I've noticed with 10.0.1, I get a crash when PortableApp is running (with a usb drive) and you put the computer into sleep mode. When you come back, PortableApp errors out when you mouse over it or right click the icon to exit. You cannot quit the application and must kill it in task-manager. Windows 7 32bit and 64bit (two different machines).

Under these circumstances, PA used to just unload itself and you'd restart it.

I'll try to grab the error details next time.

Am I the only one that gets a portableapps crash every time I manually unplug the usb without "ejecting" first? it also happens when the usb drive is plugged in and the computer comes out of sleep mode. Every time.

manually eject

What do you mean with "manually eject"? For all I know there are 2 methods: eject and close the menu from within the menu or close the menu and then eject it using windows eject icon.

Eject by clicking the eject

I didn't say manually eject. If you just unplug the usb drive (or the computer goes into sleep mode) you get the above error. Didn't use to do that before the latest release. Portableapps used to quit 'elegantly'.

Strange....

...that no one else is seeing this, when I see it on both my home computer and the one at work. Put computer in Sleep mode with PortableApps running and it crashes when you start the machine back up.

Same thing happens if you unplug your USB device with PortableApps running.

I also notice that, after the crash, when you go back into your USB drive and kick off PortableApps again, it doesn't launch, but now you have TWO PortableAppsPlatform.exe running. You have to kill them manually to get it running again.

SO. Since it's just me, is there a link to the previous release of PortableApps? None of the previous releases had this bug.

Don't Do That

NEVER ever do that. In both cases, you are purposely crashing every single app you have running from the stick. Pulling the drive without closing stuff and safely ejecting is HORRIBLE behavior in terms of portable apps. And letting a Windows PC sleep is basically the same thing since Windows doesn't handle external drives properly in sleep mode.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

close?

Is this still a valid bug in 10.2, or can we mark this as closed?

Might as well close this. I

Might as well close this. I understand pulling the USB drive or letting your computer sleep while it's plugged in crashes PortableApps, so I'll try to avoid it. I was just pointing out that it (as far as I can recall) use to exit gracefully, rather than crash.
